From July 24 to 27, Qidu Metrology joined AMTEX 2026 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR.

For our team, this was not simply a few days of standing beside products and handing out brochures. It was a chance to meet CNC users face to face, listen to their actual machining concerns, and understand how Indian manufacturers evaluate measurement solutions in real workshop conditions.
At the exhibition, many conversations did not begin with a big technical specification.
They began with very practical questions.
“Can this probe work with my machining center?”
“How difficult is installation?”
“Can it help reduce setup time?”
“What happens if the tool breaks?”
“Is this suitable for our CNC control?”
These are simple questions, but they are exactly the questions that matter before a shop decides to add a CNC-Tastsystem or tool setter to its process.
The Most Valuable Part of AMTEX Was the Conversation
A trade show can look busy from the outside: machines running, visitors walking through the aisles, brochures changing hands, cameras taking booth photos.
But for us, the real value was in the quieter moments.
When a visitor picked up a probe and looked closely at the Griffel. When an engineer asked about repeatability, then quickly moved to installation details. When a production manager wanted to know whether probing could reduce first-part mistakes. When someone compared workpiece probing with tool setting and asked which one should come first.
These conversations reminded us of one important point:
Customers are not only looking for a product. They are looking for confidence before they change their machining process.
That confidence cannot come from a catalog number alone. It comes from understanding the machine, the control system, the fixture, the part, and the daily problems on the shop floor.

What We Displayed at AMTEX 2026
At AMTEX, Qidu Metrologie focused on CNC measurement products used in machining centers and precision manufacturing.
Our display included CNC touch probes, radio touch probes, tool setters, tool setter arms, and related probing accessories.
Each product has a different role.
A CNC touch probe helps the machine locate and measure the workpiece. It can be used for workpiece referencing, edge finding, bore centering, angle correction, and selected in-process checks.
A tool setter helps the machine measure and monitor cutting tools. It can be used for tool length setting, tool diameter checking, tool wear monitoring, and broken-tool detection.
This difference is important.
A touch probe answers the question:
Where is the workpiece?
A tool setter answers the question:
Where is the cutting tool, and is it still usable?
Many machining problems happen because one of these two answers is wrong.
The workpiece may be slightly shifted. The datum may be entered incorrectly. The tool may be worn. A small drill may be broken. A replaced tool may not have the same length as expected.
When these problems are not checked early, the machine can continue cutting confidently — but in the wrong condition.
What Visitors Cared About Most
The visitors we met were practical.
They did not only ask, “How accurate is it?”
They wanted to know how the product behaves after installation.
For CNC touch probes, many discussions focused on workpiece setup and coordinate correction. Visitors wanted to understand how a probe can reduce manual edge finding, help set work offsets, check part position, and improve repeatability between operators.
For radio touch probes, signal stability was a natural topic. On real machines, fixtures, rotary tables, large parts, or machine covers can affect communication. Customers wanted to know whether a radio probe can support more flexible measuring positions.
For tool setters, the questions were often about tool length, broken-tool detection, and unattended machining. Many users know that one broken tool can damage several features before anyone notices. A tool setter gives the machine one more checkpoint before the next operation continues.
These are not marketing topics. They are everyday production concerns.
Why India’s CNC Market Is Important to Us
India’s manufacturing industry is active, practical, and price-conscious, but it is also becoming more focused on process stability.
Many companies are not only buying new machines. They are also asking how to make existing CNC machines more reliable and efficient.
That is where probing solutions become meaningful.
A CNC probe does not replace a skilled operator. A tool setter does not replace process knowledge.
But they help reduce the number of things that depend only on manual judgment.
If a machine can automatically confirm the workpiece position, there is less risk of datum error.
If a machine can check tool length or detect a broken tool, there is less risk of continuing a bad cycle.
For high-mix machining, mold work, automotive components, precision parts, and general job-shop production, this kind of checking can make a real difference.
Our Honest View: Probing Is Not Magic
At the booth, we also tried to be clear about what probing can and cannot do.
A touch probe cannot make a worn machine accurate.
A tool setter cannot prevent every tool problem if the process itself is unstable.
A probe cannot measure correctly through chips, burrs, or coolant build-up.
Good results still depend on correct installation, calibration, clean measuring surfaces, stable machine condition, and suitable probing programs.
This honesty matters.
Customers who visit exhibitions have seen enough exaggerated claims. They do not need another supplier saying one product can solve every problem.
They need a partner who can help them choose the right solution for their machine and application.
That is the direction Qidu Metrology wants to follow.
What We Learned From the Booth
AMTEX gave us a closer look at what customers in India are really considering before they buy CNC measurement products.
Some customers care most about reducing setup time.
Some are more concerned about tool breakage.
Some want to prepare for automation.
Some already understand probing but need a more suitable alternative for their machine.
Some are still comparing whether they need a touch probe, a tool setter, or both.
This helped us confirm one thing: the best recommendation should start from the application, not only from the model number.
Before recommending a product, we need to understand:
- What CNC machine is being used?
- What control system does it have?
- What type of parts are being machined?
- Is the main problem setup, tool measurement, or in-process checking?
- Is the machine running single-piece jobs, batch production, or automated cycles?
- What accuracy and repeatability does the process really need?
Only after these questions are clear can the right probing solution be selected.
